Colonial Beekeepers will conduct a Woodenware Workshop on a Saturday, January 24th.  This workshop will consist of a class for new beekeepers providing instruction on how best to put the various components together as well as a workshop for veteran beekeepers wishing to put together woodenware.  A day and place with tools and help available to build boxes, tops, frames and anything else needed!

There is no cost to attend.

The workshop will start at 9:00 AM and run until about 3:30 PM.

Interested members wishing to attend or help can contact Andy Westrich (C (757) 513-2467, [email protected]).

Those members with portable air compressors, air hoses, nail guns, and brads are asked to give some time and/or lend equipment to help out those members without such tools or equipment.

Please bring eye and ear protection as a limited amount will be on hand for loaning out.

The agenda for the woodenware class will be:

Distribution of Woodenware by Andy
Discussion of various hive components (screened bottom boards, queen excluders, etc.)
Use of frame jigs and jigs in general
Assembling frames
Wiring frames
Installing foundation
Assembling hive bodies and supers
Painting woodenware
Small Hive beetle Traps
Powder Sugar Screens

If you are interested in beekeeping, a new beekeeper, or an old hand at the hobby, come out and join us for what should surely be an informative day.  Bring your questions, comments or experiences.  Bring some of your gear for discussion or assembly.  There will be frame assembly jigs, basic tools and air tools for use.
